The Performers
Lexington Historical Society – Colonial Dancers
The mission of Lexington History Museums is to be a premiere interpreter of the events of April 1775, and the faithful steward of all of the town’s history through time.
The Lexington History Museums Dancers perform Country Dances from 17th and 18th century England, Scotland, and Ireland. This style of social dancing was
also popular among all levels of society in the American Colonies in the years leading up to and during the Revolutionary War. These dances were performed in circles, squares, and most often in the form of the longways set, for “as many as will” as they were described in period dance manuals.

This song called “If the Snow Could Sing” allows us to imagine what different kinds of songs the snow might sing. As you will soon hear, these songs could be a simple tune, a lovely lullaby, a hearty tale, and maybe even a song that tempts us to sing along! This song has contrasting sections that has us thinking about how to shift our singing voices to match the mood and the imagery that the music and lyrics creates. We hope you enjoy this song.

There is a land where winter winds are fierce, yet hearts are always warm. A place where the soil is dark and rich, and the spirit is bold and sincere. It is a homeland remembered not only by its landscapes, but by the pride carried in every voice that speaks its name.
