The Performers

Lexington Historical Society – Colonial Dancers

The mission of Lexington History Museums is to be a premiere interpreter of the events of April 1775, and the faithful steward of all of the town’s history through time.

The Lexington History Museums Dancers perform Country Dances from 17th and 18th century England, Scotland, and Ireland. This style of social dancing was
also popular among all levels of society in the American Colonies in the years leading up to and during the Revolutionary War. These dances were performed in circles, squares, and most often in the form of the longways set, for “as many as will” as they were described in period dance manuals.

“New Year Greetings Through Chinese Idioms” is a festive performance that uses traditional Chinese idioms to express blessings for the New Year. Through rhythm, movement, and spoken word, each idiom conveys wishes of prosperity, harmony, happiness, and good fortune, sharing timeless cultural wisdom and heartfelt hopes with the audience.

The NLCC Performing Club organizes various activities such as music performances, dance, poetry recitations, drama productions, and even traditional handicraft making. These activities not only provide children with the opportunity to showcase their talents but also foster interaction among them, helping to deepen mutual understanding and friendship. By participating in these performances, children can not only build self-confidence but also enhance their language skills and stage presence.

Arlington children’s chorus

It is organized by the Chinese American Association of Arlington. Members are kids who love music and performing. The choir actively participates in community cultural events and is committed to sharing joy and Chinese culture through music.

The children will sing the classic song “Congratulations,” sharing joy and festive wishes with the audience. Their performance celebrates happiness, good fortune, and the spirit of the New Year.

There is a land where winter winds are fierce, yet hearts are always warm. A place where the soil is dark and rich, and the spirit is bold and sincere. It is a homeland remembered not only by its landscapes, but by the pride carried in every voice that speaks its name.

丝竹新韵 (New Sounds of Silk and Bamboo) is a vibrant contemporary work that blends the elegant Jiangnan “silk and bamboo” style with fresh rhythmic energy. The piece conveys an atmosphere that is graceful and expressive without excess. It suggests flowing waterways, refined literati gatherings, and the beauty found in southern Chinese art.
